Hestia

Gentle Hestia, sitting at the fire, at the heart
of each home, goddess revered above all others.
Bringer of quiet comfort, of belonging,
of peace, of a place of love and family,
of the strength to hold together against all ill,
provider of serenity, I honor you.
Hestia, seen in candleglow and soft shadow,
I pray to you. Help me to see you in my work,
to make our home a refuge from care and distress.
Give me competence, efficiency, wisdom;
give me quick sharp eyes to see what must be done,
give me will to do it. Goddess, bless my home.

I liked it.

It's sweet and to the point, like the majority of Homer's own style. I've seen hymns that are long and rambling, and filled with an obtuse postmodern style that the Greeks would never have appreciated.

But this is simple and serene. :-)

Re:
Thank you :). I can never tell whether anything I write is at all good--my goal is for it to be something I can use in my devotions, and additionally to gain some understanding of the god while I'm writing it. Since I have no poetic talent, just not sucking totally is good enough for me!
